Cleared for Departure

Welcome to Series 16: Cabo

We’re back. Hello and welcome to another series of Cleared For Departure. This is Series 16 and we’re off to Cabo, departing Sunday, February 18th.

Mexico… or as you may know it: Spicy Canada.

John Oliver

My trusty laptop, Macky, had an unfortunate accident. A loose left arrow key was standing straight up and smacked into the screen when I shut it. Though I didn’t slam it closed, the impact killed the entire screen. It’s gone blank, like the look of my coworkers any time I reference something from the ’90s. I’m using a new machine, Discipulus, and it needs road testing before Namibia. It’s an iPad, which I will also use for school, hence the name. Discipulus is Latin for student.

I know, I’m not very creative when naming my electronics.

Below are the usual housekeeping items.

This email did not originate from Google Groups. We have fully switched to WordPress — the 737 MAX of blogging software. I mean, sure, it works but there are some big holes, assuming the code doesn’t cause a crash. If you have any questions about this platform, please let me know.

Consider adding “comment-reply@wordpress.com” to your safe sender list to ensure these posts get through Spam filters. Don’t know what that meant? Ask a younger friend or family member. Or me.

If you reply to the emails, you’ll reach me. I always appreciate your comments and thoughts back, so please continue to send them. Comments extolling my artistic prowess I tend to publish, as I am a vain, silly man.

If you wish to unsubscribe, there is a link in the footer of each email for accomplishing that. Come back anytime.

My offer for subscribers still stands. If you’d like a copy of any picture I take, let me know and I will send a full resolution file, packed with all the pixels for a high-quality print.

If you know someone who might be interested in reading along, feel free to send them the URL (https://www.cleared-for-departure.com). They can subscribe themselves, or I can also do it. Just send me their address and make sure you have their permission.

Because we are married to Delta, our trip takes us through Atlanta.

I am looking forward to sun and warmth, while learning about our neighbor to the south. Mexico’s been in the news lately — something about immigration? Must be an election year.

Should be a fun trip. I hope you’ll join us.

Mexico is a mosaic of different realities and beauties.

  1. I needed a good laugh this morning and the line “the 737 MAX of blogging software” did it. Thanks 😉
