Cleared for Departure

Series 19 – Pictures of Reykjavik

As capital cities go, Reykjavik is remarkably chill. Walking its streets you hear many different languages. In the area we are staying, near Parliament, I suspect most of us our tourists.

Below are some snapshots of our time here in no particular order. As you’ll see the architectural is quite diverse. There is one sculpture, Monument to the Unknown Bureaucrat, created in 1994. It pays homage to the faceless cogs in the wheels of government who keep Iceland running. His upper torso is Icelandic volcanic rock, with the weight of the world on his shoulders. I think we can all relate.

Today we head to the domestic airport and fly to Akureyri.
