The Getty Museum is an interesting complex that celebrates right angles and Italian marble paid for by syrupy oil money. Art plays a role, too. The view of the LA Basin and Pacific beyond are just sublime. You really have to see it to believe it.

Turn to Malibu, the water is freezing cold but these hardy souls were undaunted. They look like penguins, but in fact are humans waiting to catch a wave. I never got into surfing, as it feels suspiciously like exercise.
